University of Delhi promotes equal opportunities for all genders in all domains – academic and administrative. University of Delhi also endorses practices and policies that are confirming of the internationally adopted United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5, Gender Equality). The ecosystem at University of Delhi has always been inclusive of the gender diversity, encourages effective participation and equal opportunities for everyone. It also aspires to create an enabling environment for equal participation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at all levels, addressing the gender-gap in STEM disciplines.
The early initiatives of the University to address ‘gender inclusivity’ include Delhi University Women's Association (DUWA), which was established in 1964 as an association for the women fraternity of the University. Apart from DUWA, there are also initiatives such as Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB) where women students are enabled to receive special coaching without attending regular classes towards obtaining their degrees. In it's hundred years of establishment, the University has accomplished several such initiatives as per the needs of it's community. The University envisages to create an inclusivity for its academic, administrative and student fraternities with a ‘querencia’ environment.
